Location: Sydney, New South Wales, Australia   My client a very large financial institute requires a Configuration Automation Specialist. You will be coming from many years experience within this field and experienced of going into a non structured environment and advising system changes etc. The Systems Automation Specialist will work across a broad range of technology platforms and will be responsible for: Implementing an extensible framework for plugging in components Implementing a flexible automated build and deployment system . Evaluating and integrating available tools . Automating system sanity checks . Performing basic systems administration for the pre-production environments . To succeed in this role, you will possess a broad technology background, including solid hands-on experience with:Scripting languages such as: Unix Shell scripts, Perl, expect (scripting is very important)Programming languages such as: Java, PL/SQL . Ant and CruiseControl . Source Control systems such as: Subversion, CVS, PVCS Unix (Solaris and Linux)Database such as Oracle and any Sybase would be an advantage. Other technologies in this area:Powerbuilder . WebMethods . Datastage . VMWare . The important part of the role is based around development build of systems, installation of infrastructure, if not already there and then deployment of code. This is a hands on role and automation of this system process is key to the role. The manager has been working on this for a few years and wants someone that is going to bring in some fresh ideas and is going give new solutions and constructive questioning on ideas with quality material to back these ideas up. Release Management is also key. You will be a team player and someone that can mentor the team within a dynamic environment. Also, required is someone that has set up an automated system from scratch and be able to make the appropriate decisions to create their new world.
